About
Foco Financas is a free resource of rock painting ideas for beginners. Every guide on the site is written for people who have never painted a stone before, or who tried once, ended up with streaky paint and a smudged design, and put the brushes away.
The name of the site comes from its web address and has nothing to do with the subject. The subject is painted rocks, and only that.
What you will find here
- Beginner guides that explain the fundamentals: which rocks to choose, how to clean and prepare them, which supplies and brushes are worth having, and the mistakes most people make at first.
- Step-by-step tutorials for simple designs such as ladybugs, bees, fish, flowers, leaves, landscapes, dot patterns and original radial patterns.
- Technique guides on planning colors, outlining, layering paint, and drying and sealing finished rocks.
- Project ideas for garden markers, decorative stones, seasonal rocks and handmade gifts.
If you are new, the best place to begin is Rock Painting for Beginners: How to Start, followed by the guide to choosing rocks. The full list of guides is on the Tutorials page.
How the guides are written
Each tutorial lists the materials at the top, describes one action per step, explains the order of the layers and points out where beginners most often go wrong. Sizes are given in inches and centimeters. Time estimates are rough guides, not measurements.
The pictures on this site are simplified drawings made to show a design and the order in which it is built up. They are illustrations, not photographs of finished rocks. All of the designs are original and generic; the site does not reproduce copyrighted characters, logos or commercial artwork.
We do not publish invented reviews, ratings or testimonials, and we do not recommend brands. Paints and sealers differ from one product to the next, so the guides make no promises about how a finish will hold up outdoors. Wherever drying times, number of coats, outdoor use, ventilation or use by children matter, the guides ask you to follow the manufacturer’s instructions on the product you are using.
Corrections and suggestions
If a step is unclear, a measurement looks wrong or a link is broken, please tell us through the Contact page. Clear instructions matter more to us than anything else on the site, and corrections are always welcome.
